Mary Mangiacotti
Mary holds a Master’s degree from Fordham University and is certified as a literacy/reading specialist. With over 30 years of teaching experience, she has taught a wide range of grades in Park Slope, Brooklyn; Mendham, New Jersey; and Manchester and Stratton, Vermont. Her teaching portfolio spans from first through twelfth grades, including community college basic reading skills and executive functioning coaching for junior high through college students.
As an Orton-Gillingham trained reading tutor, Mary is well-versed in the Spalding Method of Reading and Writing, Wilson Language Fundations, and the Science of Reading. Additionally, she works as a test prep tutor for the verbal sections of the SAT, ACT, SSAT, and ISEE, helping hundreds of students prepare for standardized tests to gain acceptance into their desired high schools and colleges.
Mary is no stranger to Maple Street, having previously taught fourth grade and upper school English here, as well as English at Stratton Mountain School for eighth, ninth, and twelfth grades. Both her daughter Sarah, a Maple Street graduate, and her son Brian, a Stratton Mountain School graduate, ski raced in college.
Now residing in Londonderry with her husband Bob and their three labs, Mary enjoys walking in nature, listening to Bruce Springsteen, and hosting friends and family in Vermont. Maple Street and its students hold a special place in her heart, and she is excited to return this year to teach third grade.
