Visual Arts

The visual arts program works to develop students’ confidence in their creative expression by building skills and teaching techniques in a variety of media.
Emphasis is on exploration of art materials, art techniques, problem solving, and self-expression. Students are exposed to famous artists and styles as inspiration for their own work. Art projects are frequently integrated with classroom studies of countries and cultures.
Students explore a variety of media in both 2 and 3-dimensional art forms. These include painting (tempera, watercolor, and acrylic), printmaking, sculpture (cardboard, foam, and plaster), clay (potter’s wheel and hand-building), and drawing (from observation, memory, and imagination).
