Lincoln Essay Contest Winners!

April 09, 2024

Huge congratulations to Levi Stoll and Timmy Fitzsimmons, winners of First and Second Place in Region 3 of the Lincoln Essay Competition!

This yearly contest is open to eighth graders throughout Vermont. A prompt, which changes each year, asks students to think deeply about a tough issue and respond with a well-crafted essay. This year’s prompt challenged students to examine the risks and benefits of AI in a field that interests them. Levi’s first-place essay about AI in diagnostic radiology impressed the panel of judges, who found his writing “clear, logical, and compelling.”

(Intrigued? Set a reminder: Winning essays will be posted on the website of Hildene: The Lincoln Family Home in late May.)

The Lincoln Essay Competition is in its seventeenth year of asking young people to tackle big issues, and this year’s contest drew hundreds of entries. Winners from four regions will attend an awards ceremony at Hildene later this spring.

We are so proud of Levi’s and Timmy’s accomplishments!
